Accidents Free Sri Lanka, organized by the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation together with National Council for Road Safety was held at the Bastian Bus Stand in Colombo earlier this week. The programme themed ‘රියදුරු දිවියට සුව රැකවරණය’ aims at improving the health and wellbeing of public drivers and was inaugurated under the Patronage of Hon. Arjuna Ranatunga – Minster of Transport and Civil Aviation and Hon. Ashok Abeysinghe – Deputy Minister, Transport and Civil Aviation. A free health check was conducted by George Steuart Health, testing for BMI, blood glucose, blood pressure, Cholesterol and Urine Analysis of over 100 participating bus drivers and conductors. Dr. Sisira Kodagoda, chairman of the Road Safety Authority conducted the programme. Other dignitaries in attendance were Prof. Saman Abeysinghe – Chairman Dangerous Drug Control Board, Mrs. Ekanayake – Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mr. Indika Hapugoda – Director Traffic of Sri Lanka Police, Mr. Janaka Mallawaarachchi – Chairman of the National Transport Commission and Dr. Rohan Ruwanpura – Consultant JMO of Sri Lanka Forensic Medicine
